This article is designed to provide an overview of the Planning Center People integration between Pushpay and Planning Center to allow profile syncing between your Pushpay Community Member details and Planning Center People.
What is it?
Your Pushpay Community Members will be synchronized with Planning Center People. Whenever a change is made in either system Pushpay will check and synchronize the records keeping the details up-to-date.
New members of your community that give using Pushpay will be automatically created in Planning Center People, allowing you to grow your database.
How does it work?
Pushpay works behind the scenes to make the integration experience seamless. Once enabled, Pushpay handles everything automatically.
For each Community Member, Pushpay will first look for an existing person in Planning Center People by searching for their name, email address or mobile number. If we can find a good match we will merge the details from Pushpay with the details already in Planning Center People and then keep the records up to date.
If an existing person cannot be found, a new person will be created in Planning Center People automatically using the details from Pushpay. You can even verify if Pushpay creates a new person by reviewing the Activity tab on the person's profile.
Finally, the below changes made in Planning Center People and Pushpay will be synchronized between the two systems in future:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email address
- Mobile number
PCO to Pushpay only
- Mailing Address
Please Note: If a payment is entered via Gift Entry or imported via Transaction Import and is given by a child who is new to the Pushpay database and the email address and phone number match what is on either parent's profile, only include first and last name during the entry or import.
Removing contact information that is shared with a parent's profile will allow the integration to create a new profile in Planning Center for you to merge, rather than incorrectly matching to a parent's profile.
How can you improve or fix matching?
Before you've connected the systems we recommend reviewing your community in Pushpay and merging obvious duplicates, fixing typos in names etc. You may also consider changing names to the preferred names, "Barb" instead of "Barbara". After you've connected the systems and new PCO record has been created the best way to force a re-match is as follows:
- Update the Community Member in Pushpay so the name is an exact match to PCO, if possible, add the email address and/or mobile number in Pushpay.
- In PCO, delete the newly created record or merge it with the record they would prefer it to match with. This should force the Community Member to be re-matched with the record you prefer.
Can I integrate with Planning Center Giving?
At this time, we only offer an integration with Planning Center People.
