This article is designed to help you configure and set up Pushpay and Focus Missions to allow transaction information to be passed directly from Pushpay into Focus Missions.
What is it?
The new partnership between Pushpay and Focus Missions lets you manage mission trips and their payments like never before. Once enabled, all donations and payments to your mission trips will be processed through Pushpay. Your donors will get the same payment experience they are used to from Pushpay, and your finance team can easily reconcile missions giving in the same place as all your other Pushpay giving.
How does it work?
Once you enable the Pushpay integration within Focus Missions, all payment or donation screens in Focus Missions will link to your Pushpay giving experience. This includes mission trip participants making a payment towards their trip, donors giving to support a mission trip in general, or donors supporting an individual going on a mission trip. As seen below, the user will initiate their gift or payment in Focus Missions and will then be automatically redirected to Pushpay's giving experience to complete their transaction.
Once completed, they'll be directed back to the Focus Missions page to be shown the below confirmation. The relevant transaction data is sent through to Pushpay automatically, so all a giver needs to do is confirm their Pushpay account and give.
Step 1: in Focus Missions
- Log into your Focus Missions portal.
- Click the Admin drop down and select Settings.
- Click Software Integration.
- Click Pushpay > Turn on Integration.
- Sign into Pushpay using your administrator credentials and click Authorize.
- If you are an administrator for more than one Pushpay organization, select the correct organization and click Save.
Step 2: in Pushpay
- Log into your Pushpay account at pushpay.com/login and follow these steps to add two new funds (if they do not already exist).
One of the new funds needs to be a non-tax-deductible "Payments" fund and the other needs to be a tax-deductible "Donations" fund. These funds should remain invisible. This means they can't be selected by donors on your giving page, and can only be paid into by being directed from Focus Missions. Here is an example of what your funds should look like:
Step 3: in Focus Missions
Once the integration has been enabled and the related funds have been added to Pushpay, you will be shown the Pushpay Options section when creating a new trip or editing an existing trip within Focus Missions. This is where you will configure which Listing and Funds you would like to use for your trip.
If your Organization uses Fellowship One, Church Community Builder or Ministry Platform and has a Pushpay integration, integrating with Focus Missions is easy. You just need to ensure that the Merchant Listings and Funds you set up in Pushpay for mission trips are correctly mapped in your church management system.
